Extension and transformation of a former light bulb factory and a typical 90's tertiary building, this project enhances an industrial heritage and stages the productive memory of a district of Versailles. Through a triple strategy of preservation, flexibility and landscape, it demonstrates the capacity of these two superstructures, witnesses of vastly different eras, to accommodate a new mixed program of housing and commercial spaces. Following the cleaning out of the existing buildings, a light and autonomous structure is installed across the entire periphery of the office building. This mixed construction is composed of horizontal and vertical solid wood bearing structure combined with prefabricated elements that are assembled on site, thus ensuring a dry construction process. The structure extends the dwellings to the exterior by providing an additional living space that can support multiple uses. The two wings that housed the factory's offices are raised by one level. The U-shaped building is enclosed to create a patio with domestic qualities. This solid stone extension references the other history of Versailles, that of its historic neighborhoods and remarkable buildings. A project designed in collaboration with Hardel Le Bihan.
